In the private security industry there are not many awards given out by governments or organizations that wish to maintain a low profile for their tactical operations. SSL has however received some very positive feedback to speak for the merits of the company’s security operations. The following is one example:

Dear George & the SAFESEC team,
I am writing to you on behalf of the senior management of KEC International.
The past few weeks have been somewhat exceptional in terms of the level of danger that our staff have faced since working in Iraq. I think we are now up to about 5 serious attacks in as many weeks. Two in the past three days.

Throughout each of these incidents I have been told (mostly by Simon Matthews) about the expert and professional manner in which your personnel have acted and how they have dealt with some very, very dangerous situations.

Normally, after such a string of incidents I would have expected some of our own staff to be considering whether or not they want to stick around and build this powerline. Quite frankly I am amazed. I have not heard a single complaint and if anything I sense a renewed determination to show everyone that we can get this job done. After being in two incidents where (in one) his car was hit by SAF and the other when an IED hit the car followed by SAF & RPG fire, Simon is sounding more positive and enthusiastic than he did before.

I think that the high level of morale and the confidence that exists today is a direct result of the actions of your men and for that we want to express our appreciation and our thanks. We have high regard for the way the SAFESEC guys at site have suffered the difficult conditions that exist out there and for how they have kept smiles on their faces and contributed to the team spirit.

Well done guys and good luck now that we will really be getting started up there. Life will no doubt get better when (soon) we have our main camp set up in the desert.

Please pass this to all of your team.
Thank you very much indeed
Paul Hinks - KEC
